Welcome to Christ Lutheran Church
We strive to be a welcoming community where God’s love for all of humanity is proclaimed and practiced. We see ourselves as but one part of God’s family and there is always room for more. Come and be a part of the family!
The Season of Creation is the annual Christian celebration to pray and respond together for the cry of Creation. The ecumenical family around the world unites to listen and care for our common home. The “Celebration” begins September 1, the Feast of Creation, and ends October 4, the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology beloved by many Christian denominations.
“To hope and act with Creation” is this year’s theme. It emphasizes that Creation is not an object that has been created for human use, but rather a subject that we are called to relate to and collaborate with as fellow creatures. By capitalizing Creation, we refer to both the created order and the mystery of God’s continuing act of creation. We acknowledge the whole created order, or the whole cosmos, including all living and non-living parts of God’s Creation, showing our theological respect, reverence, accountability, and interdependence with the natural world.
The Season of Creation is a time to renew our relationship with our Creator and all Creation through celebration, conversion, and commitment. It is an annual ecumenical season where we pray and act together as a Christian family for our common home.
We are called to engage in the Season of Creation starting early in the year so that we can build a year-long process of preparation for the celebration that takes place later in the year.
The goal of the Period Pantry is to help address period poverty – when menstruators can’t afford period products. In Canada one in three menstruators under the age of 25 and one in four over 25 experience period poverty. Ending period poverty is a collaborative effort. We hope you consider donating period products to fill the period pantry and help decrease period poverty and period stigma.
